 Meet Kevin O'Reilly

BACKGROUND

Kevin was raised in Lafayette, Indiana, home of the Purdue Boilermakers, where his family has a long tradition of service to the legal community.  Kevin's father is an attorney in Lafayette, his grandfather and great-grandfather were police officers there, and his great-great-grandfather was on the police force in Louisville KY.    Kevin attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville IN, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. In 1997 Kevin earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis.  He maintained a law practice inLafayette from graduation until joining the Benson Law Firm in 2008.

COMMUNITY/PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT

Kevin believes that an important part of being an attorney is contributing to the community in which one practices, and he has acted on that belief in community service throughout his career.  For three years, Kevin volunteered for the Gus Macker 3v3 basketball tournament.  The Gus Macker tournament supports the local non-profit Community and Family Resource Center in Lafayette, IN.  Commitment to safe and effective family support systems is furthered by Kevin?s participation in the Guardian Ad Litem program in Tippecanoe County, IN, in which he acts as an advocate for children involved in divorce and paternity cases.  Kevin has also participated in the Tippecanoe County Teen Court program, volunteered with the Lafayette Urban Ministry Homeless Shelter, Habitat for Humanity and has coached youth soccer for the YMCA of Greater Lafayette and for Jefferson High School, his alma mater.

Kevin recently resigned from the Tippecanoe County Community Corrections board to move to Kirksville.  After Kevin?s term expired on the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy board, he began serving as a consultant to the current board.  Kevin maintains his volunteer commitment with this group by judging and participating in the annual spelling bee fundraiser.

Kevin is a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, and his two children attend Mary Immaculate School.
