Leslie was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri where she graduated magna cum laude from Drury College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Criminology. In 1994, she entered law school at Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. There, she served on the Editorial Board of International Legal Perspectives and participated in JessupMoot Court. Leslie also studied at East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai, PRC during the summer of 1997 and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand during the summer of 1998.
After graduating from Law School in 199, Leslie operated a general civil and criminal defense solo practice in Oregon and Washington where she represented clients, Court-appointed indigent defendants and served as Assistant City Attorney for Dallas and Monmouth, Oregon. She relocated to Stockton, Missouri in 2007 where she managed a dental corporation and had a part-time civil and criminal practice. In July 2013, Leslie accepted a position as Assistant Public Defender in Sedalia where she represented clients in misdemeanor and felony cases and conducted legal research and case analysis. She joined The Benson Law Firm LLC as an Associate Attorney in June, 2016.
Leslie completed certification requirements in Civil and Family Law Mediation at Missouri State University Center for Dispute Resolution, and Guardian ad litem training with The Missouri Bar.
Leslie lives in Kirksville with boyfriend, Jeff, who is an Occupational Therapist for the Kirksville R-III School District. They enjoy their 2 horses, 12 cats and caring for therapy dog, Rally.
